Your trusted insurance brokers and advisors in Cape Breton

Do you work for me or the insurance companies?

As independent insurance brokers, we interface with leading insurance companies to have them bid for your business. We work for you, not the insurance companies. This provides us the flexibility to find the best solution for your needs.

Can I get better rates from other insurance companies or brokers?

Generally, rates in the insurance industry are standardized, which means you will not get better rates from anyone else. And, with our specific focus and experience working in Cape Breton, we know the market and what to expect.

Can I afford group benefits?

There are many plans available and they can be customized in a variety of ways to make them as affordable as possible. You can also change or upgrade plans as you go. We are happy to explore solutions that fit your budget.

My home-based business only has one employee, can I qualify for group benefits?

Yes! We can help businesses and nonprofits of all sizes and industries.

My rates for group benefits have increased significantly, what are my options?

Businesses with only a few employees are at a high risk of having rates increase if one or more employees increase their claims in a given year. Pooling your claims with other businesses minimizes this risk by spreading it across more people. As exclusive providers of the Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan ® for Sydney and area businesses, we can pool your claims with tens of thousands of other businesses.

Can contract employees qualify for group benefits?

Some plans do allow for full coverage of contract employees under certain conditions. Contact us so we can provide more specific advice.

Can part-time employees qualify for group benefits?

Most plans require employees to work a minimum of 20 – 24 hours per week in order to qualify. Contact us so we can further evaluate your needs.

What happens if some of my employees already have coverage under a spousal plan?

Normally, they may choose to stay on their spousal plan, while employees who do not have the option will be covered under your plan.

Can a group benefits plan be cancelled?

You can normally cancel your plan with 30 days notice. Your plan likely cannot be cancelled by the insurance company before the renewal date, as long as you pay your premiums. However, plan contracts may vary, so please contact us so we can review your specific situation.
